Halloween 2011

 Halloween
Guy's preschool class went to Staheli Farm for a field trip, so Jack took off work and the whole family went.

We also sent to Tonaquint Nature Center for their annual Halloween party. Guy created this pumpkin for a contest. He wanted it to look like a zombie. It won him a prize!
He debuted his Pee Wee Herman costume at the Nature Center. I sewed the suit and spray painted his hair. Sloan was a spider.
The kids enjoyed playing games and making crafts.

Guy's preschool Halloween party was so much fun. The kids really liked Miss Tracey's witches potion.

After the party we held a trunk or treat in the parking lot. I dressed up in my homemade costume from a couple years ago.
The Saturday before Halloween we went to the LDS church parking lot for a trunk or treat.
On Halloween day we went to the mall to trick or treat. Guy won movie tickets for his awesome costume. Then Jack and Guy went back to Staheli Farm to navigate the corn maze.
We tried a little door to door trick or treating later that night, but our neighborhood isn't the best for it. I love Halloween, but I'm ready for Thanksgiving now.

1st Marathon

St. George Marathon
26.2 Miles

I ran my first marathon October 1, 2011. I was prepared and excited! The first 7 miles went by so fast. I pushed myself up the hills from mile 7-10 and still felt good, but I decided to take an anti-fatigue pill even though I didn't train with them. At mile 13 I wasn't feel very good and I was about 3 minutes slower than I had been on my 22 mile training run. I looked forward to seeing my friend Jessica who was volunteering at the 15 mile aid station and Jack and the kids who were waiting for me at mile 16.

Quick pic while I ran by Jack & the kids at mile 16.
I took another anti-fatigue pill at mile 17 because I was losing steam. By mile 20 I was throwing up on the side of the road. I ran behind a bush to go potty, but nothing happened. I felt horrible. I considered giving up, but decided to walk-run the last 6 miles. I was so sad watching the time pass by as I walked and sipped water.

I jogged the last 2 miles and was so glad to see the finish line. I finished with a time of 4:32. When I saw Jack I started to cry. He gave me a big hug, flowers, and a gift card for a massage. He is the greatest! Within hours I was feeling better and ready for the next marathon. I signed up for the Sand Hollow Marathon in March and I plan on running a few 1/2 marathons in between. I can't wait for the St. George Marathon next year so I can kill this year's time.

The Concert!

I Heart Music Festival
Jack had to attend a conference for work in Las Vegas. His friend Sunny from grad school flew down from Vancouver, BC to also attend. They heard about the I Heart Music Festival and decided to see if they could scalp tickets. They were so lucky when 2 guy's sold them medial passes for $100 each.

This was the line up:

1st Night                           2nd Night
Black Eyed Peas               Kenny Chesney
Kelly Clarkson                  David Guetta with Usher
Coldplay                           Lady Gaga with Sting
Jane's Addiction                Jennifer Lopez
Jay-Z                                Nicki Minaj
Alicia Keys                       Rascal Flatts
Bruno Mars                      Subline with Rome
Carrie Underwood           Steven Tyler with Jeff Beck

Bruno Mars

Black Eyed Peas

Coldplay

Rascal Flatts

Jennifer Lopez

Jack living like a rock star.

Sunny hanging with the prepubescents.

Usher

Lady Gaga
Jack said the Black Eyed Peas were the best and Kelly Clarkson was the worst. Jack and Sunny didn't venture backstage until both shows were over and they didn't get to see any celebrities, but they were ushered into a bus that took them to an after party at a club. Going to Las Vegas for work isn't so bad!

End of Summer

Guy loves preschool. He says his favorite activity is swimming, but he also loves karate, gymnastics, Zumba, yoga, and the climbing wall. Today will be his first cooking class.

We camped in Park City, UT so Jack could participate in the Park City Point to Point Mountain Bike Race. The weather was so nice.
Here is Jack before the 78 mile race.
Here he is after. This was the hardest race he has ever done. It took him 11 hours and 45 minutes to finish.

Guy was given a Make-Your-Own-Game kit from his cousin Cody for Christmas last year. We forgot about it until now. We created a travel game were players try to get from Guy's house to Cody's house.
Last weekend we went on a hike on the Anasazi Trial in Leeds, UT to see the petroglyphs.
Guy put on his clothes from India and practiced some meditation.
Sloan is giving the evil eye. She told me today she wants to be in a dance class. Maybe when she turns 3.
