Another Hike

Last Saturday we went hiking in Red Cliffs Park. It is only a 10 minute drive from our house.

I am carrying my new cooler bag. Thank you Jessica and Charlotte for a birthday gift you knew I would like and use all the time.

We couldn't go beyond this point with the kids. It is too hard scaling rock walls with kids on your back. Sloan would have jumped in the water and floated down stream if we let her. Guy really wanted one of the frogs that we saw some other kids catching.

It looks like something scary is in the water like an alligator or sea serpent.

I celebrated my 31st birthday Tuesday. I had my party a week earlier with my family in northern Utah, so we just stayed home on my birthday and had cake and ice cream. I got a Garmin watch that I love. My first goal is to beat my best 5K time of 25:05. My next race is May 28th at Midnight!

Our trip and funny kids

Jack went to Fruita, Colorado for an 18 hour mountain bike race. Below is a picture of the team with their 2nd place medals. The racers lined up at the start line and were told to follow the white rabbit to their bikes. At midnight a man with white bunny ears and only underwear on jumped out of the bushes and started running. Someone else reported a nude spectator running along the trail cheering on the racers that night.

The race ended at 6pm the following day with a big party (a beer company put on the race). Jack and his friends stayed for a couple more days to ride. Bonnie went with a broken leg, but didn't ride of course. We went to her house a few weeks ago for dinner and told Guy that she fell off her bike and broke her leg. He asked, "Did the doctors put it back on?"

While Jack was gone the kids and I visited my family in northern Utah. We stayed with my sister Charlotte for 2 nights. I didn't have the camera, but Charlotte posted a funny picture of Guy asleep in his cousin Cody's arms. We visited Grandpa Hull twice which was nice. He is 94 years old now.

Then we went to mom's for Mother's Day. My sister Jessica found a box of my bother Dennis' old toys (he is now 23) and told Guy to ask if he could play with them. Guy said, "Mom, isn't that crazy. A man has toys!"

Now we are back home where we enjoy teasing Shorty.

We went to the park yesterday and Guy peed on a bush because the bathrooms were so far away. Sloan followed him over there, lifted up her shirt, and pushed out her bellybutton as if peeing too.

The Shirt

Guy spotted Star Wars t-shirts on display at Old Navy while we were purchasing a gift for Grandma. He cried when we went to the checkout stand without one. That was when I noticed my wallet was missing from the cart. I traced my steps through the store and was about to start crying when Guy came around the corner holding it. I was so happy! I hugged him and told him he could have the R2-D2 shirt he wanted as a reward.

Guy changed his shirt in the van and we drove to his sports class. He is learning about football, baseball, soccer, and basketball. He is a great kicker, but he is not a very good thrower yet. I think Sloan may be better at throwing a ball than he is.

When Jack got home he asked Guy how he acquired his new shirt. It turns out, Guy was mad (probably because I wasn't going to buy him the shirt) and he hid my wallet in a display of clothes. That was how he knew where to find it. My hero turned into the villain. His shirt was confiscated and he is doing some yard work to earn it back.

Later that evening we went to the Staheli Family Farm for some fun family time. We missed the youth tractor pull, but we got to ride on the tractor train and play on the farm inspired playground.

Guy loved the tractors.

The kids liked petting most of the animals. Sloan was scared of the horses, but loved the birds. Guy was scared when he saw a turkey on the loose. He was having flashbacks to when his finger was bitten by a chicken.
