Summer Time Activities

This little boy looks so cute and innocent, but he can come up with some big whoppers. If you hear him start a story with, "When I was younger..." know that is not true. Here are some of his most recent stories:
When I was younger...
  • I had a farm. I was a good farmer. When bad guys would come I would kick them, kick them, kick them.
  • I went sea diving and there were sharks.
  • Abbey (a girl he has never met) is my best friend and she taught me karate.
  • I was skateboarding down the mountain on dad's skateboard. I was doing tricks. I didn't have knee pads, but I didn't get hurt.
Sloan is cutting another tooth and saying more words. She had a break through two weeks ago when she said to Jack, "Help me."
Shorty is getting older, but he still runs around.
I took the kids to Quail Lake near our house. Guy is looking forward to going fishing with his grandpa when we go to Memphis, TN.
Jack went to Bryce Canyon to ride and camp. He spent the first night with biking friends and the next two nights with people from work. Isn't it nice to get paid to bike, hike, and camp.

We look forward to visiting Jack's family over the 4th of July. I have been working on my tan and I got my hair highlighted. I ran 10 miles last Sunday! That was the longest I have ever ran at one time. I am hoping to shed a few more pounds.

Pinata

The kids and I made a pinata for Jack's birthday. We pasted paper onto a balloon and let it dry. Then the kids got to paint it. Guy and Sloan LOVE art!
We added some crazy hair and facial features to complete the look.
Then we drove to northern Utah. Jack was scheduled to speak at a conference, so we spent time with family. We saw the new Shrek movie with mom, my sister Charlotte, and her 3 kids. Then we went up to Charlotte's house for a visit. The boys played Twister while the girls napped.
Guy does not like losing.
So, they rolled up instead.
We went back to mom's house Friday night to celebrate Jack's birthday. I was so excited to roast hot dogs and marshmallows over mom's new fire pit, but it rained. Dennis helped hold up the pinata indoors so the kids could hit it without hitting anyone else. Here is Ella taking a whack. You can see Guy is impatient for his turn.
Cody will be a baseball player some day for sure. He has an awesome swing!

Jack is helping Guy turn the remaining pinata into a mask.
We had a great visit. It was nice to feel cooler temperatures despite the rain.

Memorial Day Weekend

My sister Charlotte was able to visit for a few days. We went to a splash pad and to our neighborhood pool. The kids spent the evenings throwing sand on their heads in the backyard. It was a fun visit! You will have to refer to Charlotte's blog for pictures.

Friday night at 11pm I ran the St. George Midnight 5K with friends Helen and Kendra. I ran my best time 24:56! I got second place in women 30-34 and I came in about 50th overall. I was told there were over 500 people racing.
On Saturday Jack rode 100 miles with a group out of Cedar City. Sunday he mountain biked down a Mesa into Graffton. I can't believe some of the downhills they do.

On Monday, Memorial Day, we went on a little hike in St. George with the kids. Then we went to the neighborhood pool to cool off.
We found this cave with a fireplace built in and Guy asked if this is where Santa hides out. I don't know why he is choking himself in this picture.
