Christmas 2011

Merry Christmas!
Pillow Pets
Guy's big present was a LEGO table with 2 chairs. Sloan got a chest with princess dresses and accessories.
Opening Stockings
Sloan is so excited to open this robotic dog that she is moving too fast to get a good picture.
Guy got the Star Wars Millennium Falcon with Han Solo and Chewbacca action figures.
Opening Grandma Peggy's gifts.
I received Toms shoes, exercise clothes, and a new jacket. Jack also got exercise clothes, cologne, and a fire pit for the backyard. Later in the afternoon we went as a family to see the new Muppet movie.

Funny quote by Guy:
"Mom, you have to see this. My poop is shaped like a candy cane. It is huge!"

Let It Snow!

Brian Head With Friends
This was Guy's first time on skis. He wanted a snowboard, but skiing is easier to learn.
Snow Bunny Sloan
Jack put Guy between his legs and they flew down the slopes together.
Sloan didn't last long sledding.
Everyone took a lunch break and then Jack and his old high school buddies went snowboarding. Below is Alan's truck being pulled out of a snowbank. Don't drive with snowboard boots on.

Guy went back out in the afternoon. He and Jack rode the lift and skied down the mountain several times. Guy asked him to go faster and faster.
I love this picture. It was very cold, but we had a great time.

Happy Holidays

 Decorating for Christmas

Washington City Tree Lighting Ceremony
Sloan was so excited to see Santa!

Pajama Christmas Party
Washington City Community Center

Sloan was excited to see The Grinch, but got nervous being so close to him. The line for Santa was too long and Sloan couldn't handle it. I was dragging her out the door with Guy screaming, "No, I want to see Santa!" when Mrs. Clause ushered us back in and put us at the front of the line. I didn't make eye contact with any other parents or kids still waiting in the long line. Can you tell we have all been crying in the picture?

Jingle Bells

Sloan added some jingle to the songs too.

I am so proud of Guy. So is Sloan who yelled, "Hi Guy!" just as they started singing.

Winter Running

Relay
At the beginning of December I ran the Expedition Relay in St. George, UT with friends from my neighborhood. The race was 50 miles long. I decided to run my legs consecutively, so I ended up running 11.5 miles. Brooke and I had time to clean up before meeting the team at the finish line.

Hostess Half Marathon
Mid-December I ran the Hostess Half Marathon in Hurricane, UT. This race was hush hush because it is not sponsored by the city or by Hostess. At each of the 5 aid stations runners must eat at least one Hostess product. Thank goodness they offered little doughnuts. I was only forced to pick a Twinkie once.
Hostess Half Marathon before the race began.
I have a new friend and running partner, Amber Farmer. I met her through Twitter and Facebook before the race and we run about the same pace. It was nice to have someone to run with.
I am eating a Twinkie!

Amber and I running after the 2nd aid station.

I can eat fast!

How much weight did I gain on this run?
This was a very fun race. I hope to run it again next year. I finished in 2:03. The medals were very nice. No sugar for me (for at least the rest of the day).

Sloan turns 3!

The Princess Party
Sloan opened her gift from Grandma Peggy early, so we could set up her new princess castle tent for the party. All the little girls wore tiaras and I made them fabric purses to carry their jewelry in.
 Pink cupcakes with strawberry frosting.

I painted the girl's nails with sparkly pink nail polish Sloan picked out. The girls colored in little princess coloring books with princess stickers. We also played pin the kiss on the frog.

 December 15, 2011
Sloan opened all of her birthday presents from her family. She received new pajamas, cute clothes, an interactive princess want, a ballerina Barbie and more.

November 2011

25 Hours of Frog Hollow
Jack raced solo in a 25-hour mountain bike race in Virgin, UT. This was his 2nd time entering this race in the solo category. He completed 12 laps and 156 miles! That is one more lap than last year.
It started snowing when the race started. It just happened to be an extremely cold weekend. Good thing he had the pop up tent trailer to sleep in.
He broke a pedal half way through a lap. Good thing he was prepared with another set.

Guy's 5th Birthday!
Guy turned 5 on November 20th. He had a LEGO birthday party, but I forgot to take the camera to the club house where we held it and I didn't get a single picture. We played LEGO games, had LEGO treats, and put together mini LEGO jeeps and planes as party favors. Guy got a lot of LEGO gifts which was wonderful!

On his actual birthday, Jack gave him a venus fly trap that catches real bugs. Sloan gave him a camoflauge jacket she picked out at Old Navy and I got him a book (not cool enought to make the picture).

Thanksgiving
We traveled north to have thanksgiving with my mom and siblings. We had a great visit stuffing ourselves with food and playing games all night.

We visited Grandma Barbara at work and took some pictures.
The whole family went to a family fun center to play laser tag for Guy and cousin Cody's (6) birthdays. Even Grandma played laser tag. The younger kids jumped on the air-filled bounce houses. Cody and Guy enjoyed getting birthday presents (more LEGOs).
Jack, Hazen, and I jumped around on the trampolines and got a good workout.

Dennis played a jumping game and won tons of tickets that he cashed in for a set of play handcuffs.
I love my family!
