Jack got a wetsuit and now the training begins.
Every Wednesday evening Jack meets the other members of the Southern Utah Triathlon Club to swim and bike at Sand Hollow Reservoir.
First Tri: Jack's first triathlon was the SHAC Sprint held in a swimming pool. Jack had a great time, but felt like it was too short. He was just getting warmed up.
Second Tri: 4th Street Tri to benefit a clinic for the homeless and held at the University of Utah.
Very cold run to the mountain bike!
Third Tri: His second tri was at Sand Hollow and he raced the Olympic distance.
It looked like such a long distance to swim, but Jack is a good swimmer already.
I had t-shirts made for the kids. Sloan's says: Tri Daddy Tri. Guy's says: Run Bike Swim
Jack had a great race, but his black compression socks were pulled over his timing band and his run time was not recorded, so there was no official time. Bummer!
Fourth Tri: Jack's third tri was an Xterra Olympic in Moab, UT. It was an eventful trip. A woman side swiped out vehicle while we were trying to back up on a dirt road after Jack and his friend Ryan picked up their race packets. She didn't want to take responsibility and I had to organize a take down with a local police officer after she took first in her age group in the tri.
It was June 9th, Jack's 38th birthday, so we brought Hostess cupcakes to celebrate. He couldn't have asked for a better birthday.
Fifth Tri: His 4th tri was in Huntington, UT. He finished 13th of 42. Now he is training for his first marathon. Next spring he is signed up to race in his first Half Ironman!
