Leadville 100

Leadville, CO Family Trip

Jack made it into the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race this year, so we took a trip to Colorado. We camped in our tent trailer near Fruita, Colorado the first night. The kids enjoyed a cool treat the next day before we continued driving.

The second day we picked up Jack's best friend from high school, Jeremy Jessop and camped near Breckenridge, Colorado. It was so pretty! We enjoyed a walk along the lake that evening.

Guy is king of the world.

On the third day I went for a run on the nice paved bike path that seems to run all the way across Colorado. Then we finished our drive to Leadville, Colorado. We met up with another high school friend of Jack's, Chad Terry and his family. The guys went for an up hill training ride on the course to Powerline.

 The kids cheered on their fathers and were a good support crew.

We were so dirty after being outside all day, so you can imagine what the racers looked like. The kids were excited to be at the finish line too.

 Below is Jack completing the 100 mile race in 11 hours 36 minutes. You can see Sloan's head and little hand waving.

Guy doesn't know his own strength.

What an awesome accomplishment! Chad finished the race and Jack and Jeremy earned belt buckles. I dropped our camera into a bucket of water right before the awards ceremony.

We traveled home the next day, so Guy could start preschool on Monday.

The following weekend Jack rode 100 miles in the Desperado Dual in Panguich, UT. He earned his best time for a century of 5 hours 4 minutes and he was 22nd out of approximately 300 people!
